Meet the Molecule: Chris Hayes

One thing you may not know about The Molecule is that our dedicated staff of multi-talented artists and producers take on many additional projects outside of the office.

Chris Hayes, our own director, producer, and motion graphics superstar is currently working on a documentary film project that holds very special meaning.

“It feels good to take that creative energy and put it into something that feels important, and could maybe make a difference,” said Chris in regards to the documentary, I Heart Jenny, which he is currently co-editing with friend and occasional Molecule freelancer Brad Gallant.

Set against the backdrop of gorgeous Colorado countryside, I Heart Jenny chronicles a free spirited, adventure-seeking mother of four as she copes with a terminal Ovarian cancer diagnosis. The film also aims to educate and raise awareness about the BRCA gene mutation, the direct cause of Jenny’s cancer.

Though at times heartbreaking, the film is really about a beautiful soul living life to the fullest in the face of insurmountable odds. The brainchild of first time director Blake Babbitt, I Heart Jenny is a truly inspiring story with the power to touch people everywhere.

The story has personal significance to Chris, who lost a close family member to cancer. “I’m not unique in losing someone close to me to this disease,” says Chris. “I think that universal appeal and hopeful message really makes this a special project.” He referred to the film as a refreshing change of pace that he’s been happy to work on.

After over two years of work, the film is expected to wrap up this spring and then make the festival tour.
